Amy Ta, MA

Lecturer and University Supervisor Teaching and Learning

Biographical Information

From her earliest memories, Amy Ta recalls wanting to be an elementary school teacher. She devoted herself to working with young children as soon as she was able. She began by working with preschool age children in a variety of roles. Her undergraduate work was in Child Development and Early Childhood Education. Once she completed her multiple-subjects teaching credential, she taught for nine years in grades, two, three, and four. In 2021 she received her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Literacy from the UCCS College of Education.

A passion for Amy is teaching through Project-Based Learning. She believes education is more than what happens in the classroom and knows
children grow through curiosity and play. She loves when children ask the question, "Why?" and encourages this inquiry. Therefore, she incorporates PBL into the curriculum every year.

Through her graduate program, she thoroughly enjoyed teaching writing and coaching teammates using the Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) approach. While coaching and co-teaching, she developed a strong desire to work with new educators entering the classroom. She is thrilled to be able to supervise students in the Inclusive Early Childhood Education program and hopes to foster the same love of inquiry with them and their students.
