Biographical Information

Dr. Fred Washburn is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). He holds a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation and Counselor Education from the University of Iowa, an M.S. in Counseling from Eastern Illinois University, and a B.S. in Psychology from Brigham Young University.
Fred’s professional background includes a blend of clinical work, supervision, and program leadership. He has worked in various counseling settings, including private practice and psychiatric emergency services, and previously served as Co-Director of the Mental Health Counseling Program at Central Washington University. His clinical interests center on counselor development, supervision, and supporting individuals and families through challenging transitions.
He is committed to training future counselors with care, compassion, and integrity. Fred’s approach to teaching and supervision emphasizes ethical practice, cultural responsiveness, and reflective learning. Outside of academia, he values community engagement and supporting mental wellness at both individual and systemic levels.
