Biographical Information

Melissa Gardner is a Colorado Springs native with over 24 years of experience supporting students and educators in the local community. Her career began in early childhood education, evolving into roles as a classroom teacher, district-level Teacher on Special Assignment, and Dyslexia Interventionist.
Driven by a passion for literacy, Melissa became a Certified Academic Language Therapist after completing the Dyslexia Specialist program at Colorado College. She has since provided private dyslexia therapy and helped launch an elementary school dyslexia program. Currently, she provides dyslexia therapy in a local middle school and serves as a Professional Learning Facilitator for a national literacy company. In this role, she trains educators on the science of reading. Melissa also teaches a course on multisensory structured literacy at UCCS. Her work consistently focuses on bridging the gap between literacy research and practical classroom application.
