Biographical Information

Michele Mortensen LPC, M.A., NCC, CAT is a temporary full-time instructor in the Department of Counseling and Human Services at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. She earned her M.A. at the University of Northern Colorado in clinical counseling, and her B.A. in psychology and sociology at the University of Colorado at Denver.  She is a licensed practicing counselor in the state of Colorado, as well as a certified addiction technician.  Michele has owned and operated her own private practice since 2006. She specializes in working with individuals who have sustained a traumatic brain injury, children and families in crisis, developmental disabilities, and individuals struggling with substance use/dependence. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, and the Colorado Counseling Association. She is also a member of the American Psychological Association. She is additionally a member of PsiChi, The National Honor Society in Psychology. 

She is interested in student success and retention and helping students find their way into the field.  She is also interested in equine-assisted therapy, and animal-assisted therapy.  Neuropsychology is an additional focus that Michele has special interests in.
