Biographical Information

Peggy (Peg) Duffie is an Assistant Professor of Special Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). Peg earned her Ph.D. and Master’s in Special Education from the University of New Mexico, with a focus on supports for individuals with intellectual disability and extensive support needs. She has extensive experience in public education as a preschool and elementary special education teacher, serving in leadership roles (e.g., head special education teacher, nonviolent crisis intervention lead responder).

Peg's research focuses on creating equitable educational access for students with ESN by examining (1) decision-making of individualized education program (IEP) teams (e.g., pre-meeting practices, family engagement) and (2) teacher preparation and retention (i.e., general and special education professionals).
