About the Program

No matter what a student’s major or career aspirations are, every UCCS graduate should be prepared to engage in leadership. In line with the College of Education’s mission to prepare leaders who embrace equity, inquiry, and innovation, the Applied Leadership Minor will engage students in leadership learning that is theoretically-grounded, organizational in focus, promotes equity and inclusion, and is applicable to their professional aspirations. The Applied Leadership Minor is designed to prioritize leadership learning and development in ways that are accessible, flexible, and empower completion. Therefore, all core courses are offered online in 8-week formats.


Focus of Study

Students who graduate with the Applied Leadership Minor will be able to: 
•    Discuss the foundation of leadership education including a range of leadership theories and how they can be applied in practice.
•    Demonstrate an understanding of how to engage in leadership within diverse communities, teams, and organizations.
•    Explain how leadership learning and education can be leveraged for equity and generate social change. 
•    Describe their own personal leadership philosophy in relation to their professional aspirations.

A minimum of 18 credit hours must be completed.

How to Declare Your Applied Leadership Minor

After being admitted as an undergraduate student to UCCS, schedule a time with your academic advisor to officially declare your Applied Leadership minor. Advising is located in Main Hall Room 208 (lobby). Phone: (719) 255-3260.
