Principal License Preparation Licensure Program

Students who complete this 24-credit hour Principal License Preparation Program are eligible for the Colorado Principal License.

A Master's degree an education-related field is required for principal licensure at UCCS. Students who do not yet have a Master's degree in an education-related field will need to also enroll in the MA in Leadership degree program. All Principal License Preparation Program credits may be applied to the Master of Arts in Leadership within 5 years of taking the first course in either program. The addition of the Master of Arts would require 9 additional credits.


Focus of Study

The curriculum of this program is based on a foundation of research in the areas of organizational leadership, inclusive leadership, instructional leadership, professionalism, and data literacy. The program adheres to the Colorado Principal Quality Standards developed by the Colorado Department of Education and is approved by the Colorado Department of Education and the Colorado Department of Higher Education.

Students must complete LEAD 6820 the last semester of their principal license program.
