How did the SAHE master's degree program contribute to your success in higher education?

The SAHE program’s robust curriculum allowed me to explore and learn various areas of Higher Education. Because the program is rooted in theory and history while anticipating the future, it gave me a holistic view of how I wanted to portray myself as a Higher Education professional.

Why was the UCCS SAHE program the best choice for your master's degree?

I believe that the people who teach in the program is what made it the best choice for me. The faculty within the program as so compassionate and caring, while also providing the perfect balance of challenge and support. The classroom has never been my favorite place to be, but because of the enthusiasm and energy of the faculty within the program, I actually looked forward to attending class.

How did the SAHE master’s degree program contribute to your success in higher education?

The UCCS SAHE master’s degree program prepared me for my career in higher education in multiple ways. Not only did I receive a solid educational foundation in student affairs including current and relevant topics impacting higher education from dedicated faculty, but I also gained practical time in the field through my graduate assistantship and the practicum experience. This involvement on campus provided me with valuable leadership skills as well as insight into the inner workings of a college campus and allowed me to put lessons into practice. The confidence these experiences provided is invaluable to me and am grateful for the opportunities I had.

Why was the UCCS SAHE program the best choice for your master’s degree?

The UCCS SAHE program was absolutely the best choice for my master’s degree as it provided me with amazing support from my cohort family, the faculty, and the UCCS campus and community at large. Because Colorado Springs is my home and making local connections was important to me, the UCCS SAHE program provided numerous occasions to connect with other local colleges and their student affairs staff through tours, information sessions, as well as guest speakers, which enriched my personal experience greatly. During the program, I was also able to participate in multiple professional development opportunities and even attended a national conference and met other SAHE professionals from around the country. As a current staff member at UCCS, I now have the opportunity to give back to the program that has given me so much. I look forward to sharing my pride in the program with others for years to come.

How did the SAHE master's degree program contribute to your success in higher education?

The SAHE program truly has a built-in mentor component for those that either work at UCCS or choose to earn their practicum hours at UCCS. Almost every department across campus has SAHE alumni staff representation and everyone is willing to support and develop those in other cohorts!

Why was the UCCS SAHE program the best choice for your master's degree?

The SAHE program was flexible for those student affair professionals already in their career as well as those that started out their higher education experience as a Graduate Assistant and worked up to a full time position. In addition the faculty and staff of the SAHE program are all well-educated and have an unlimited amount of higher education knowledge and experience that they are more than willing to share!

How did the SAHE master's degree program contribute to your success in higher education?

The SAHE master’s degree program contributed to my success in higher education by providing me with a breadth and depth of knowledge in student development theory, as well as providing me with practical experiences to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom to the world of work and interactions with students.

Why was the UCCS SAHE program the best choice for your master's degree?

The UCCS SAHE program was the best choice because of the networking opportunities and connections it's provided me with. As a former Academic Advisor/Instructional Liaison at PPSC and currently a Career Consultant/Instructor at CC, a community of SAHE graduates exist at both campuses. We would consistently catch up, grab coffee or lunches, or even just have walk and talks. Small-orado Springs is what I’ve been discovering in higher education spaces here haha. I am very grateful for how those connections continued or were even introduced after completing the program.
