Biographical Information

Tim Callahan has an extensive background as P-12 public school educator.  He has been a teacher of both primary and intermediate grade students.  For twenty five years he served as an elementary school principal.  He brings a wealth of practical experience to his role of instructor and site professor in the UCCS Teacher Education and Licensure Program (TELP).

Teachers touch the future.  As an instructor and site professor at UCCS, it is my goal to prepare educators who have the ability to promote the learning and achievement of all students in diverse classroom environments.

Design and present engaging and interactive early-education program experiences designed to help students understand the roles, responsibilities, and duties of the teacher in a democratic classroom.   Mid-program intensive programming on theory of classroom management and initial theory-into-practice training.  Teacher Education and Licensure Program training and mentoring of students during Fall and Spring in-school training program.

Results include recognition for increasing student achievement as a “Gain Maker School” by the Colorado Department of Education. Utilization of a marketing plan lead to the highest percentage of permitted students (35% CHOICE enrollment) of 60+ District Eleven Schools. Maintained active community support and involvement in school environments. Recognized by Colorado Department of Education for implementing an exemplary Colorado Preschool Project Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) early childhood education and a center-based English Language Learner (ELL) Program. School Library/Technology/Media Center has met the rigorous criteria to be designated a “Colorado Power Library” by the Colorado Department of Education and Colorado Library Association. Recognized by the Colorado Springs Arts, Business Education Consortium as an administrator who effectively integrates art’s education throughout the curriculum.

Mentored/coached numerous teachers, administrators and managers helping them create successful units within various organizations. Served on district committees, including budget, accounting/fiscal practices, accountability, drop-out prevention, arts in education, special education inclusion, expansion of district/community early childhood education programming.
