Biographical Information

Dr. Amanda Metcalfe is Assistant Professor of  Behavioral Science and Leadership at the United States Air Force Academy where she teaches courses in leadership, psychology, and gender & security studies -- while assisting in the graduate education of incoming commanders. Her recent research examines feminist leadership strategy to learn from global regions where women are making significant strides in ethics of gender equality. Her field work travel includes Cuba, Iraq, Palestine, Iceland, Rwanda, Namibia,Uganda, Serbia, and Slovenia. She has extensive experience with trauma treatment and has served as a military family counselor in her community and internationally to support veterans, soldiers, civilians, and numerous survivors of sexual trauma. Amanda is a native Coloradan, who has lived in Colorado Springs for 35 years.
