Dr. Elizabeth Domangue is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Leadership, Research, and Foundations in the College of Education at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
She received her Ph.D. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in pedagogy and self-determination theory in the context of K-12 school experiences from Louisiana State University. She also earned a minor in Women's and Gender Studies with coursework focused on the examination of educational theory, policy, and practice.
Over the last 22 years, Dr. Domangue has had a wide range of professional experiences in education, including leading (Superintendent of Schools, Director of Schools, Principal, Assistant Principal, Director of Secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment), teaching (i.e., K-12, university, international), conducting research, supervising student teachers, coaching teachers and school leaders, serving on dissertation committees and university graduate program advisory committees.
Dr. Domangue's leading and teaching experiences have contributed to her research which draws from the field of motivation theories (i.e., self-determination theory) and systems-thinking for leadership development and transformational change. She is currently working on two strains of research: 1) examining principals' beliefs about their autonomy, control, and impersonal in the role of a K-12 school principal as it relates to retention, development, and effectiveness and 2) examining sustained turnaround of schools/districts that are historically underperforming through the lens of superintendents and principals.
In 2023, Dr. Domangue received the Distinguished Alum Award from the Department of Leadership, Research, and Foundations in the College of Education.
