Biographical Information
Dr. Jason Rose (he/him) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Services at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. He earned his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, with a minor in Applied Research and Statistical Methods and an emphasis on Gerontological Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado, where his dissertation focused on the impact of death anxiety on counselors-in-training efficacy with substance use populations. Dr. Rose also holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory and Composition.
With extensive teaching experience at institutions such as Metropolitan State University of Denver, Regis University, and the University of Northern Colorado, Dr. Rose has held academic roles as adjunct professor, assistant professor, and interim graduate program director. His responsibilities have encompassed curriculum and program development, student mentoring, teaching, and research. He has also served as a board member for the Jefferson Center for Mental Health and the Colorado Counseling Association. Alongside his academic roles,
Dr. Rose has a strong clinical background, providing mental health and addiction therapy in private practice and various clinical settings, specializing in therapy for other clinical mental health practitioners.
Dr. Rose's research notably focuses on death anxiety/Terror Management Theory, professional competence, substance use, and social cooperative emotional states, integrating these theoretical and existential perspectives into his role as an educator. Moreover, Dr. Rose has published several peer-reviewed articles and presented at numerous conferences, both regionally and nationally.
Dr. Rose is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in Colorado, as well as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Additionally,
Dr. Rose is certified as an Addiction Counselor Trainer through the Behavioral Health Association of Colorado.
