Biography

Dr. Al Ramirez consults in the areas of education policy and finance. He is professor emeritus in the department of Leadership, Research and Foundations at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. His transition to university level teaching follows an extensive career in pre-k through post-secondary education. Al’s career experience includes positions as a teacher, counselor, principal, central office administrator and superintendent of schools. He has also held key education policy positions in the Nevada and Illinois state departments of education and served as Chief State School Officer in Iowa. Dr. Ramirez has an extensive body of research in peer reviewed publications and professional magazines. His book, Financing schools and educational programs: Policy, politics and practice, is published by Rowman and Littlefield. Dr. Ramirez has also served appointments to several state level and national education advisory boards and commissions. Al’s consulting work is international in scope and has a client list that includes corporations, foundations, governments, school reform organizations and education entities.
