Licensure, Certificates, and Endorsement Programs

 

 

 

 

School Counseling Licensure

The Department of Counseling and Human Services offers the Master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in School Counseling. The School Counselor training program meets the licensure requirements of the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and is accredited by CACREP based on national standards for the preparation of school counselors.

NOTE: This is a graduate level program.

Special Education Generalist Licensure

Students in the Special Education Initial Licensure Program are provided the experiences and academic support to learn how to meet the needs of all students with disabilities in the general education classroom.

To be eligible for an initial license in Special Education from the Colorado Department of Education, candidates must:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally-accredited institution
  • Pass the Colorado-approved content exams
  • Complete a program from a regionally-accredited institution for the preparation of special education teachers Students that hold a valid Colorado teaching license in another discipline are eligible for added endorsement.

NOTE: This is a graduate level program.

 

Special Education Director Licensure

To be eligible for the Special Education Director License from the Colorado Department of Education, candidates must:

  • Hold a master's degree or higher in special education from a regionally-accredited institution
  • Possess two years of licensed experience working with students with disabilities
  • Complete a program from a regionally-accredited institution for the preparation of administrators and special education directors

NOTE: This is a graduate level program.

Administrator/Superintendent Licensure

To be eligible for the Administrator/Superintendent License from the Colorado Department of Education, candidates must:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally-accredited institution
  • Pass the Colorado-approved content exam
  • Complete a program from a regionally-accredited institution for the preparation of school administrators
